Here´s one that is a total understatement. Light shimmering waves and ripples where a gentle deep blue predominates. One of those guitars that exude class but is nevertheless ravishing.

Actually, more of a navy Blue  with a silver blue predominating but the extremely rare white ripple Abalone has some lavender shades and touches in it – so I decided to name this baby what Jimmy might have called it. This guitar is as gentle as he was

Matching this very rare and costly white abalone was extremely difficult and time consuming. No one to help me here, no instructions etc. because I am the first and only one working these materials into guitar tops.!

This is an uncompromising guitar in every aspect and I built this Pearlvibe with the Lead Guitarist in mind. I used only the heart of the Abalone shell on this one to get a completely different Pearlvibe. Abalone heart has a very unique appearance, very different from the rest of the shell. Very finely grained metallic parts; almost minute copper-like tones and metallic like details and grain predominate. These flow into green and yellow abalone shapes. I didn´t stain the abalone heart at all but only did a light transparent brown burst on the edges and corners to bring it all together. In poor lighting you have a handsome dark sunburst guitar but in good lighting like sunlight or on stage the copper tones, golden brown and auburn hues come to a life of their own and really sparkle and explode in all directions. The beautiful copperlike and metallic reflections that are pleasing to the eye and give an overall metallic look.

A light orange to gold burst is always a challenge. I needed a few tries  to get the color and blending just right.  I am pleased with the gradual blend of red-orange, yellow-orange to cream white. It wasn´t easy and took many steps with the airbrush to get it just right.

Matching this very rare and costly white abalone was difficult and time consuming but I learned a bit from my „Golden Halo“.

I started with a light 1,9 Kilogramm two-piece, resonant swampash body and a flat sawn, bright sounding, grade AAAA flamed Canadian maple neck with very strong and deep flames on all sides. I stained this  neck a warm light vintage honey and the flames literally popped out. This is a fine neck with beautifully structured flames. It is handformed and very comfortable in ones hands. SPECS: All vintage 50´s tele measurements and thickness. The neck a vintage C with medium jumbo frets and 10 inch radius for those easy bends. I  greatly  rounded all body edges and contours to get a sleek look and feel. This also enables me to use less lacquer (combination of nitro cellulose and 2 component urethane) and much thinner coats for assured good resonance. You can actually see how thin the coats are in strong light. The outlines of the shell grain become apparent. This is good for the tone. Two more coats and the grain would be non-visible. I decided on less lacquer in favor of tone.

I was looking to capture the color tobacco brown glowing in the sun.I wanted a very earthy color yet it should shine like a Pearlvibe.

Matching this very rare and costly white abalone was extremely difficult and time consuming. Then came the job of staining , dieing and airbrushing an effect such as tobacco glowing in the sun. The highly flamed white abalone helped here a lot and brought out the fire I was looking for. Customers that prefer a traditional tobacco burst like this color. A typical factory tobaccoburst can not compare because this Pearlvibe shines like a semi-precious gem.
